MICHAEL HARDY-GUEST SPEAKER
Date/Time

Michael Hardy was born and raised in the small town of Philadelphia, Mississippi. Some may know this as the home of country music legend, Marty Stuart, but Michael grew up head-banging to his dad’s favorite rock & roll bands such as KISS and Led Zeppelin. Later on, he became influenced lyrically by the great John Prine after an opportunity to see him in concert, and it was this musically-diverse upbringing that helped shape Michael’s songwriting style as it is today. After a year of college back home in Mississippi, Michael decided to move to Nashville to finish his education and pursue a career as a songwriter. He graduated from MTSU with a Commercial Songwriting degree in the summer of 2013 and released an EP in the fall of 2013 that debuted in the top 50 on the iTunes Country Albums chart. Michael landed his first publishing deal early in 2014 with Watsky Music, which is owned by Jonathan Watkins and Grammy Award-winning songwriter, Dennis Matskosky. Currently writing over 100 songs per year, Michael is actively working with and learning from the best songwriters in Nashville. He also produces his own demos and the occasional side project, including recently, a rock album. Michael has a way of putting words to music that makes you forget about the world and get lost in the song. He is blessed to get to write songs for a living, and that is something he will never take for granted.
