At our November NSAI-Philly Chapter regional workshop, we’ll dive into The Business of Publishing with a focus on pitching. There’ll be a video presentation and discussion, followed by song feedback/evaluations.
NSAI Philadelphia Chapter Workshop
TOPIC: The Business of Publishing – PITCHING
Thursday, NOVEMBER 29, 7-10PM
Messiah Methodist Church (back entrance)
527 Ridge Pike
Lafayette Hill, PA 19444
ADMISSION: FREE
All songwriters welcome.
Once the creative “fun”of writing and recording a song is completed, what’s next? How do we reach a wider audience for our music?
This is when knowledge about the publishing side of the music business is absolutely essential!
For all types of publishing – self publishing, sync placement (TV/film), and capturing the ear of reputable publishers (a value-added benefit of NSAI membership!), we’ll focus on the importance of building relationships and how to do it.
SONG EVALUATIONS
Following the topic discussion and video there will be song evaluations. Songwriters can perform a song live (bring guitar), or play MP3 for feedback and evaluation – BRING LYRIC SHEETS (10+) for full benefit of the evaluation.
We suggest bringing a song not yet professionally recorded or demo’d; that is "in the works" or that you're willing to revisit, tweak, and rewrite. The evaluation is an exercise that encourages the rewriting process. Evaluations are a constructive exercise and valuable teaching tool.
MEETING LOCATION
Messiah Methodist Church located in Lafayette Hill is directly off Ridge Pike and shows up on Google Maps. Watch for a Methodist Church sign at the entrance of a driveway that leads to the parking lot in back of the church, go to back door to enter building and follow signs to the meeting space.
An RSVP is appreciated by return e-mail if you can make the meeting.
