Singer/songwriter Benita Hill has had her songs recorded in nearly all genres of music-country, rock, pop, jazz, gospel, Broadway and musical theater. As a recording artist, she has released seven CDs of her original music ; has toured as a background singer with the Allman Brothers, J.J.Cale, Conway Twitty and many others; and is the voice of “Santa Baby” for the international Jaguar Automobiles television commercials. Her songs have been recorded by Isaac Hayes, Crystal Gayle, Grammy winner Kirk Whalum, Kevin Whalum and Take 6 and more; but she is best known as the co-writer of the number-one hit songs by Garth Brooks, “It’s Your Song” and “Two Piña Coladas”. She’s also a co-writer with Brooks of the songs “Weekend” for his platinum selling album “Gunslinger” as well as appearing on his multi-platinum selling boxed sets “The Ultimate Collection,”Triple Live “ and his latest 2021 release, FUN.
Benita’s self-produced documentary, “The Healing Power Of A Song” has been broadcast on public television and on the Blue Highways cable television network as well as co-writing six songs for the international movie musical “Cooking For Two”, now streaming on Tubi TV. Her latest album of original, modern torch songs called NOIR establishes her range as a timeless songwriter and artist of depth, humor and insight. And she loves the opportunity to serve as a mentor for NSAI members who wish to improve their craft and learn more about the process and business of songwrtiting!
