With a sound that merges modern Country, Pop-infused melodies, Chris Housman’s music showcases an authenticity only made possible by his eclectic musical tastes and Midwest farm upbringing. Originally from Hanston, Kansas (population: 200), Housman immersed himself in music at the age of seven when he taught himself to play fiddle and began performing in a family Bluegrass/Country band. Through the years, Housman’s musical tastes were as varied as his choice in instrumentation, as he gravitated towards the sounds of Motown and Folk, and he added piano, upright bass, guitar, and even the spoons to his list of talents. Eventually relocating to Nashville, TN to attend Belmont University, Housman continued his musical journey and began performing with his upright bass at over 150 colleges around the country. His unique talent for whistling recently earned him a spot as one of the Top 5 musical whistlers in the world, and he has found a way to merge all of his influences, experiences, and talents into a sound uniquely his own. His latest release “Blueneck”, a viral TikTok song, released as the #1 Country and #4 All-genre song on the iTunes charts and has since surpassed 2 million streams across all platforms. Chris received NSAI’s inaugural Todd Givens Memorial Scholarship in honor of the long-time head of NSAI’s tech department and will soon be releasing his debut EP.
