CHAPTER HANG-OUT
Chapter Hang-Outs are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month for our local and nearby Houston area members to provide a unique LIVE opportunity to meet “in-person” to share and brainstorm with each other about new and helpful ideas related to our personal experiences and skills in songwriting, production, live performance and other aspects of the music business.
Our next local Hang-Out will be:
Date: Tuesday, November 19th
Time: 6:30-8:30 pm
Location: Dosey Doe Whiskey Bar, 2626 Research Forest Drive, Unit B, The Woodlands, TX 77381
WHAT TO EXPECT
While this may adjust, meetings will follow the following format:
SIGN IN: When you arrive at the meeting, please assemble in the Speak Easy portion of Dosey Doe and sign in. If you plan on playing a song at the meeting, indicate that on the sign-in sheet and leave your lyric sheets on the table.
10-MINUTE LESSON: Meetings begin with a 10-minute lesson (topics will vary) in the Speak Easy.
PLAYING; SONG EVALUATIONS: After the lesson, we will move to the venue portion of Dosey Doe for song evaluations. Order some food and settle in as Members play for the group. After everyone who wants to play has a chance to go through, based on time we will facilitate more playing as possible.
IF YOU INTEND TO PLAY
If you intend to play, you must bring the following to the meeting:
MEMBER. While we love visitors and guests, per NSAI rules, only NSAI members can play at meetings. Sorry – it’s a liability thing.
YOUR INSTRUMENT. We’ve got great PA to work with but do not have a Chapter “house” guitar or keyboard. Please bring your instrument, tuner, picks, strings, 9-volt batteries, and anything else you may need. If you plan on playing a keyboard, get with me ahead of time to plan. We DO have music stands in the event you need to look at your lyric sheet.
LYRIC SHEET. If you'd like your song to be critiqued, please bring enough accurate lyric sheets to distribute to each member in attendance (15 should be enough for the moment – if we break 15 people can share).
