Remember. Reflect. Regroup
By Shannon Gursky

Two years ago, almost to the date, the NSAI staff embarked on a staff retreat to Memphis, TN. The trip was twofold: team bonding and visit some of the greatest historic music locations. We were able tour Graceland, Sun Studio, Stax Museum of American Soul Music and more. Throughout the trip we had time to remember, reflect and regroup; remember what made us fall in love with music and why we do what we do, reflect on all we’ve accomplished in our personal music related journeys and collectively as an organization and regroup by analyzing our programs and services, which resulted in setting new goals to better serve our members.

In honor of #ThrowbackThursday and it being close to halfway through the year (Have you kept your New Year’s Writing Resolution(s)?), I challenge you to do the same:

1.     Remember what made you fall in love with music, why you write and who you are as a writer.

2.     Reflect on all you’ve accomplished in your songwriting journey until this point.

3.     Regroup by analyzing your journey and set new goals.

Be honest with yourself. There’s still time to make this year the best one yet.
