Date/Time
-
Location: Scarritt Bennett Center , Nashville, TN 37212

Tin Pan South Songwriting Seminar (TPSSS) will be held March 24-25, 2025. TPSSS is the perfect event for songwriters of any genre and any skill level to further develop their songwriting toolkit, build a stronger network, and learn from enriching segments from experts across the music industry.

As NSAI’s longest-running event (formerly known as Spring Training) we are proud to say that this seminar has been the standard by which all other Nashville songwriting seminars are measured. Former attendees include hit writers Jon Vezner (Where’ve You Been – Kathy Mattea), Tia Sillers (I Hope You Dance – LeAnne Womack), Barry Dean (Girls Chase Boys - Ingrid Michaelson, Pontoon – Little Big Town) and Lance Carpenter (Love Me Like You Mean It – Kelsea Ballerini).

Invest in your craft. Meet co-writers. Get inspired.

'Best Of'

Seminar attendees who register (and at least partially paid) by March 3rd have the opportunity to submit one original song for the chance to play in a Tin Pan South round. On March 3rd, 2025, the song submission opportunity closes, and all submitted songs go through a first round of judging by the NSAI Creative Team. This process narrows eligible submissions to a “Top 24”. On March 7th, 2025, voting opens to choose the "Top 12 Best Of Seminar" songs. ONLY 2025 SEMINAR ATTENDEES ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE. Sending the voting link to non-attendees could disqualify your entry. The writers of the Top 12 songs will have the opportunity to play their song during the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival on Saturday, April 6th! Please address all questions to [email protected] See below for more details. *Dates subject to change.

What Do I Need to Submit a Song for “Best Of”?

Only registered attendees are eligible to submit ONE ORIGINAL SONG for 'Best Of'. Upload your song (Mp3) and lyric sheet by March 3rd, 2025. ONE entry per person, only.

*Keep in mind, the song you submit will be the only song eligible to be played in the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival “Best Of” round, should your song be chosen. *Please only submit if you are comfortable performing live. If your song is chosen to be performed in the “Best Of” round but you need someone else to sing it because you are non-performing, that is totally fine, but you will need to provide this vocalist and make ALL necessary arrangements. Same goes for accompanist - NSAI will not provide anyone an accompanist. You are welcome to provide your OWN accompanist/vocalist. A keyboard will be provided if needed. Additionally, if your song is chosen to be performed, it must be performed - we will not allow anyone to play a track.

How Will My Song Be Judged?

Lyric/Melody/Structure/Content/Originality/Theme/etc. We do not judge on vocals and do not necessarily judge on quality of the demo - so if all you can afford is to record your song on your iPhone, do it & submit. I say “necessarily” because although we don’t judge on the quality, a “good demo”, whether it have all the bells & whistles from a studio or is just an iPhone recording, is still necessary for proper judgment. ONLY 2025 SEMINAR ATTENDEES ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE. Sending the voting link to non-attendees could disqualify your entry. The writers of the Top 12 songs will have the opportunity to play their song during the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival on Tuesday (March 25th) evening! Please address all questions to [email protected]

Voting Guidelines:

  • Select up to 12 songs (it can be less). If more than 12 songs are selected, all votes will be marked void
  • 1 vote per song, per attendee (Cast all your votes at the same time. You will not be able to come back to the page and vote again. All additional voting attempts and/or double votes will be marked void.)
  • DO NOT SHARE LINK - voting is for 2025 seminar attendees ONLY. Any other vote cast will NOT be considered.
